Ten hair caring tips

Here are some hair care tips I find helpful to me, so I'll like to share them with you:

1) Having a protein treatment is very important for your hair because it strengthens hair, and deals with brittleness.

- A strong precaution I'll give is to make sure you use a moisturizing conditioner immediately after this treatment, apply it to your hair, and let it sit for about 30minutes, with a plastic cap on. I forgot to do this last week, and my hair became so hard and brittle, and I am still trying to figure out what I can do to bring my hair back to its natural state. So again, very important to moisturize/condition.

- You don't have to do a protein treatment very often; usually every four to six weeks is fine.

2) Don't ever comb hair that is dry, as it not flexible, and is more prone to breakage. I recommend combing it when it is wet, or when you have your conditioner in, so it spreads evenly, and you can detangle more easily. And for natural hair, wide-tooth combs are the best!

3) Use cold water to rinse out the conditioner, and warm water to rinse shampoo out. Warm water is good especially if your washing product contains some good hair nutrients, because it opens up the hair pores and the nutrients can penetrate in. Cold water should be used at the end of the wash, so that it seals the hair shaft and prevents nutrients from being washed out.

4) Hair products can build up on your hair, so you can use some home-made recipes, I'd say once a week, to remove build-up. Don't forget to clean your scalp too!

5) Do moisture treatment once every week. Our hair cuticles don't stay flat, meaning they stay open and make it harder for moisture to stay in. That's why (I guess) our hair tends to get dry alot, and so moisture is very essential to avoid breakage.

6) Use essential oils to seal moisture in.

7) Always wrap your hair in a silk haircloth

8) Avoid products that contain petroleum, mineral oil, sulphate, silicone, and glycols. They make it hard for moisture to go in, meaning they can promote dryness.

9) If your hair doesn't spring back when you pull it, when it's wet, your hair is damaged.

10) Trim your ends! Very important.
